whole 30 wrapup

So if I’ve been MIA lately it’s because I’ve spent every waking moment thinking about food.
Why is that any different than usual, you ask?
Well, I just finished my third Whole 30. The second full one really since I failed a second attempt in January. Since starting a desk job, traveling and too many trips to Nashville I’ve put on more than 10 pounds since November. Chinese, I love you, but you don’t love me.
Whole 30As of Wednesday, I made it through 30 days of eating whole, unprocessed food. No legumes, dairy, soy or bread. No Sex With Your Pants On (SWYPO) foods like paleo pancakes/bread/muffins etc. and lots of black coffee (kind of gross).

It’s been a week since I’ve been officially done with my Whole 30.
The verdict?
SW: 153.2
CW: 141.6
Total pounds lost: 11.6

It’s amazing what eating real food can do for you.

My pants fit again so I celebrated with a shopping spree during Back to School Tax-free Shopping Weekend (even though I have no kiddos I still love a good sale) and a trip to a local grain-free, dairy-free, soy-free bakery in town called Nerdy Birdy Cookie Company. It was delish and worth the 30-day wait. Yesterday, I went to the county fair with a friend and tasted lots of terrible things so I still feel kind of terrible but tomorrow is another day.

Now that I’ve had the cheat day I’m ready for another 30.

Have you ever done a Whole 30?

measurement monday

It’s been three weeks since I last checked in but I’m happy to report some changes. Even better, they’re changes in the right direction. I’ve lost 3.8 pounds since I started my Dietbet and have 2.1 to go. I’ve also lost 4.5 inches but I’m not sure if that’s because I measured incorrectly. We’ll see when my trainer measures me next week.

That’s it for me today.

I’m heading to CrossFit in a bit and then going to LA Fitness to finish my homework.

I may or may not have a $1 mini from Sweet! if everyone else is going. Just the one though and not my usual dozen four.

With six days left to lose the remainder of my 4 percent I can’t afford to go too crazy.

Until next time.

How have you been doing with your New Year’s resolutions/goals? Have you checked in to compare your progress? Have you fallen off the resolution bandwagon? Tell me in the comments.

WOD:

Skill- Bar Work (We learned how to lift the bar properly using a PVC pipe)

Snatch Work EMOM (every minute on minute)

9:00 (every :45 did 5 reps then rested :15)

Then came the following in sets of 21, then 15, then 9, followed by the run each time.

Snatch 95/65 Rx but I lifted the 35 lb. bar without any extra weight. Hard enough for me! Toe to bar on the pull up bar (more like knees to chest for me)

400M Run

For Overall Time: 13:51

On Sunday I met with a trainer at LA Fitness and purchased 14 sessions (one a week until J’s graduation) to get me motivated and back on a weight loss track. He took my measurements and I guess I’m posting them to shame myself to success?

Since our spring 2011 wedding I managed to keep my eating in check on Thanksgiving, even managed to do “OK” while visiting our families for Christmas but the last two weeks J was here we ate out more than we had probably the entire month before.

Gah!

Cue a 16-pound gain in a month and as everyone knows, abs are made in the gym but revealed in the kitchen. All my running and cardio doesn’t really help much there.

I’m sure the holidays didn’t help any but I’m positive the majority of that weight gain was from our “last time” at plenty of our favorite eateries. I’m looking at you Satchel’s, Fuji Sushi, Sweet and Yum Yum!

While incredibly delicious I wish I hadn’t indulged quite so much because I know more than anyone that the weight will be a lot harder to get off than it was to put on.

I’m not going to let that get to me though and I’m determined to take these four months to get back to where I was and then lose some more.

Call me crazy but maybe I’ll even be able to do a pull up by the time J comes back from basic?

Who am I?

I’ve got to lose 5.94 pounds to win anything from my DietBet but I’m positive that’s a reachable goal for the month now that I’m temporarily cooking for one.

If I participate in another bet after that then I will need to lose 5.68 pounds to get a payout and that loss will almost bring me back down to my wedding day weight and back into the 130s. It’s a 4 percent weight loss goal per month which I think is totally doable with the increased strength training I’ll be doing. Yay, CrossFit!

From there I’m hoping for an ultimate goal weight of 125 and I’ll reevaluate after that. I haven’t seen that number since seventh grade so I’ll be ecstatic.

Baby steps.

Any tips to keep me on track?
